Honey & Oats Beeswax Soap (Cold Process)

There’s something timeless about the comforting scent of honey and warm oatmeal. This soap blends creamy oats, golden honey, and natural beeswax to create a gentle cleanser that soothes and nourishes the skin. Each bar hardens beautifully and carries a delicate sweetness that feels like sunshine in your hands — perfect for everyday luxury.

You’ll Need
  • Digital kitchen scale
  • Heat-safe bowls (for oils + lye)
  • Stick blender
  • Silicone loaf soap mould
  • Thermometer
  • Safety goggles & gloves
  • Spatula & measuring spoons
  • Small grinder or food processor (for oats)
🧂 Ingredients
  • 317 g olive oil
  • 89 g coconut oil
  • 55 g cocoa butter
  • 10 g beeswax (≈ 2 %)
  • 24 g honey
  • 10 g oat flour (ground rolled oats)
  • Sodium hydroxide (lye) & distilled water — calculate exact ratio via soap calculator

💛 Method

  1. Melt & Mix Oils:
In a heat-safe pot, gently melt coconut oil, cocoa butter and beeswax together. Once melted, add olive oil and stir until uniform. Let cool to ~54 °C (130 °F).
  2. Prepare Lye Solution:
Wearing gloves and goggles, slowly sprinkle lye into distilled water (never the other way around). Stir until dissolved and allow to cool to ~54 °C.
  3. Combine:
Pour the lye solution into the melted oils. Use a stick blender to reach a light “trace” — when the mixture thickens like custard.
  4. Add Goodness:
Blend in honey and oat flour until evenly dispersed. The scent and texture will turn warm and creamy.
  5. Pour & Swirl:
Pour the soap batter into your mould. Tap to remove bubbles. You can dust the top with whole oats for texture.
  6. Set & Cure:
Cover with a towel and allow it to set for 48 hours. Unmould and cut into bars. Let cure in a cool, dry space for 4 weeks to harden and neutralize the lye.

✨ Tip: Refrigerate the mould if you want a lighter-coloured bar; honey naturally deepens to caramel tones.
